New Class of Naval Corvette: the ‘Bengbu’ joins the fleet

The first of the PLA fleet’s light guided missile corvettes was launched at a ceremony at Zhoushan, Zhejiang (March 13), marking the entry of this class of warship into naval service. The Bengbu is China’s newest class of vessels which boasts a spectrum of armaments, its major job is patrol, alert and protection, which it can do solo or in cooperation with other military units, in antisubmarine warfare and surface warfare missions
