China’s repression of dissent intensifies

Joshua Rosenzweig of the San Francisco-based Duihua Foundation (which has quietly worked for decades advocating with Beijing on behalf of Chinese dissidents) seems to be giving up hope. On Monday Rosenzweig publicized nine recent cases of Chinese dissidents’ arrests, beatings, and intimidation – all in violation of China’s own laws. Beijing spokeswoman Jiang Yu counters: "There are people whose only desire is to see the world in chaos and create trouble in China.
